The Best Things to Do in the Adirondack Mountains this Summer

Summertime in the Adirondack Mountain is one of the best times to visit. Not only will you be able to soak in the sun on the Asa Adirondack property, but you’ll be able to explore many different natural and historic landmarks throughout the hilltops.

We’d like to highlight some of the most popular attractions to make your vacation as stress free and straightforward as possible.

Revolution Rail

Address: 3 Railroad Pl, North Creek, NY

Alright, we guarantee you’ve never done this before! Get on the rails and pedal for your life with the unique Revolution Rail Company.

For $90 a couple, you can bike for 7 miles through the colorful Adirondack forest canopy. While it’s awesome in the summer, the real bucket list experience is biking it in autumn. The sea of colors is really something else.

Gore Mountain Summer Activities

Address: 793 Peaceful Valley Rd, North Creek, NY

Hours: 8AM - 3:30PM

Though Gore Mountain offers a peak skiing experience, there’s still stuff to do when the snow has melted.

Downhill mountain biking offers a similar thrill to skiing, so if you’re used to hitting the mountains with a snowboard you’ll get a similar spike of adrenaline by mountain biking. If you’re not up for a 1700 foot vertical slope, you can ride along the cross-country trails instead.

Probably the coolest thing to do is the Scenic Skyride, a slow ride that gives you a gorgeous view of the mountains. It’s truly unforgettable, and a must-do for any family, couple, or solo rider looking for memories.

Circle B Ranch

Address: 771 Potter Brook Rd, Chestertown, NY

One of the more peaceful, engaging things you can do this summer is catch a ride on a horse. Circle B Ranch has guides who will saddle you up with an equestrian ally as you embark on a short trip through the woods. It’s peaceful, you’ll be surrounded by nature, and you can make new friends.

The Best Gentle Hikes in the Adirondacks

While there are plenty of hikes in the Adirondacks that will make you sweat and leave you aching, we don’t think the folks staying at Asa Adirondack want that. Instead, we’ll highlight some of the easier hikes in the mountains that still provide a rewarding and enriching experience the whole way through.

Ausable Chasm

Distance: 1.9 miles

Walk through the serene chasm and you’ll see a bunch of beautiful waterfalls. Listen to the cascading water. Breathe in the clean air. Feel the cool air against your skin. Ausable Chasm offers visual desserts, and once you leave you’ll feel all the more peaceful.

Stewart Mountain

Distance: 0.8 miles

A fun hike for the whole family! You’ll be able to get a good view of Gore Mountain, the forests, the lakes, and the wildlife of the Adirondacks. It’s a quick hike too, so it won’t take up too much of your day.

High Falls Gorge

Distance: 1 mile

It’s a very easy hike with exceptional views of the waterfalls, though it does cost $15 a person to get in. Whirlpool Cove is beautiful, so if you decide to hike it you won’t be disappointed.

Have Fun in the Lakes of the Adirondacks!

The Adirondacks have a few lakes that are a beacon of summer fun for all who visit them. Whether you’ve brought a boat for some morning rides, grabbed a fishing pole for some introspective evenings at the lake, or you just want to hop in the water to cool off, both of the popular lakes should be on your mind. Schroon Lake is a bit smaller and typically has fewer guests, but Lake George offers boat rides and more space for fishing.

Wild Waters Outdoor Center

Address: 1123 NY-28, Warrensburg, NY

Hours: 7AM - 8PM

Speaking of water activities, Wild Waters Outdoor Center is located a little further from the lakes, but is all about water activities. You can kayak, canoe, tube, and even whitewater raft in certain sections of the Hudson River.
